Grocery Price Check is a free site of grocery sale prices from USDA and BLS reports. You don't need an account to use it, and we don't ask for your name, email or payment details. This page explains what is collected when you visit and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Analytics. We don't run an analytics service or set cookies today. If we add one, we'll update this page first.
- Server logs. Our content delivery network (Amazon CloudFront, part of Amazon Web Services) records a standard log entry for each request: the page or file requested, the date and time, the response status, the referring page, your browser's user agent and your IP address. We use these logs for security, to fix broken links and errors, and to understand traffic, including visits from search-engine crawlers. They're stored privately in our AWS account, aren't used to identify individual visitors or for advertising, aren't sold or shared except where the law requires, and are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- Price checker. The prices and sizes you type into the price checker stay in your browser; they aren't sent to us. Your last item and region are remembered in your browser's local storage so the checker opens where you left it.
- What you send us. If you use our contact form, we keep your message, the email address you give (to reply) and a one-way hashed version of your IP address (to stop spam). Messages are stored privately with our database provider, Supabase, and emailed to us through Amazon's email service.
We don't run ads, we don't use advertising cookies, and we don't sell or share personal information for advertising.
Your choices
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.
Your rights (US state privacy laws)
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Virginia or Connecticut), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell or share personal information, and we hold very little. To make a request, use our privacy request form.
Children
This is a general-audience site and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date above.
